The Filatov Lug church site lies within New Moscow, on a former vacant lot near
the old Khovanskoye Cemetery and new residential districts. The landscape has not yet developed a defined tree-and-shrub structure: it reads as an open meadow, with wild plants and long views.

The spatial composition brings together several functional elements: the church building with an altar for services; an open bell tower; and a separate extension with an altar niche for candles, linking the church and bell tower.

Stylistically, the church is close to the National Romantic style and the Neo-Russian tradition. The project draws on the imagery of medieval Russian architecture, reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens.

Historical motifs are interpreted through enlarged proportions, sculptural expressiveness and a free composition of volumes, without literal reproduction
of architectural prototypes.

The church has an onion dome framed by three rows
of pointed gables, a broad portal, a massive low porch and sloping walls. These elements create a distinctive, monumental architectural image.

At the same time, the sculptural volumes soften the building silhouette, creating imagery characteristic
of the Neo-Russian style. The form seeks dynamic development rather than strict, enclosed symmetry.

ARCHITECTURE

The church plan is organized along a clear axis: from the entrance porch, visitors enter the main prayer hall ending at the altar. Side access for people with reduced mobility
is provided by ramps.

The interior is conceived as a bright, austere and composed space. Tall windows provide natural light, while white textured-plaster walls diffuse it gently throughout the church.

To the right of the main volume are a connecting extension with an additional altar and the bell tower, forming a continuous functional link between the spaces.

Simple natural materials connect the interior with the building exterior and create a calm setting for silence, solitude and prayer.
