The project reconstructs three attached buildings at the corner of a historic Petrograd Side block, within the northern Baltic architectural context of fire-wall apartment buildings from the second half of the nineteenth century.

The block forms a complex mosaic of old Saint Petersburg, where rich architectural character is combined with a dense mix of functions and the challenges of preserving the historic building stock.

The building is organized as three interconnected volumes with a clear division between residential and public areas. Entrances, vertical circulation and distribution spaces are placed centrally, ensuring convenient navigation while preserving the independence
of each volume and uniting them into one functional structure.

The lobby interiors use a restrained contemporary aesthetic with natural materials, soft lighting and a calm palette. Tall glazed openings connect the space with the city, while timber panels, light stone and furniture create a warm, refined entrance area.

The lobby serves not only as a circulation space but also as a comfortable shared area for waiting, meetings and everyday interaction among residents.

The facades have a clear floor-by-floor structure,
while the overall composition is formed
by two expressive volumes.

The ground-floor gallery is separated from the upper
part of the building by a cornice that emphasizes the horizontal articulation of the facade.

The upper floors are clad in natural stone in warm and cool tones and accented with horizontal bands and single-step portals around the window openings.

Corner apartments feature floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows; the glazing system unites the three upper floors and visually lightens the upper volume.

ARCHITECTURE

Because the central building is not a heritage structure, its volume was raised
by two floors and replanned to accommodate duplex apartments.

The neighboring volumes retain their original height. Usable terraces are introduced at the junctions where
the roof levels change.
